TRAILS OPEN
03/05/10 11:54 p.m.
Conditions have been less than favorable following the last snowstorm. Temperatures have been above freezing and the sun has been out.
The State Park Trail has been closed from State Route 104A in Fair Haven through McCintyre Road on the other side of the Park. The trail is bare in many spots and we have received phone calls from the park as sleds have been going through and tearing up the grass.
The remainder of the trail system remains open with adequate coverage, however, the sun is starting to eat through the base in certain locations.
Ride safe and be respectful of landowners property as ground damage can cause permanent trail closures.
02/18/10 12:20 a.m.
We recieved a much needed 5 to 7 inches of fresh snow throughout the day on Wednesday. The snow is very wet and fine (not lake effect) so it is heavy and will pack down well for a nice base. The trails are well covered again and are now open. The fields are windblown and corners on the trails are likely to be icy. As there is minimal base be alert to hidden hazards and as always, ride safe.
02/15/10
The trails are still currently closed due to lack of snow. There is bare to 2 inches of snow on the ground. Fields are windblown and bare. Please stay off the trails until more snow falls to prevent damaging landowners property. Fortunately temperatures have remained cold so the trails should come into shape quickly if we get some snow. See the photos to the right for conditions.
01/26/10
The trails are currently closed due to lack of snow. The infamous January thaw has struck again. Warm weather and rain has devastated area riding conditions. Temperatures are now becoming more seasonal and there is snow in the forecast. Stay tuned for updates and THINK SNOW!
01/17/10
The trails had come into good shape by mid January; however, conditions have deteriorated some due to the recent warm spell. The short term forecast is not very positive. The trails are still rideable but beware of water and thin spots. Hopefully late January and early February will bring colder weather and more snow.
01/09/10 1:00 a.m.
The trails are in great shape for the weekend. The groomer was out Friday for about 11 hours and covered most of the trail system. The trails are well covered and smooth. It feels like riding a new trail system. The State Park is now groomed and in good shape. Snow cover is sparse however coming across the beach due to wind. Ride Safe!
01/07/10 5:05 p.m.
The trails are open and in good shape following the snow this past weekend and through the start of the week. The groomer has been out covering the trails. We have been taking it section by section as we sort out the new machine and ensure adequate clearances on the widened trails. We have worked with the NYS Park and the stump issue has been resolved. We will be grooming this section tomorrow.
01/03/10 12:25 p.m.
The trails are now open following over a foot of fresh lake effect last night. A light powdery lake effect continues to fall. Please ride carefully and watch out for hidden obstructions in the trail as the trail base will now begin to be built. Please respect landowners and stay on the posted trail.
CAUTION!!!
UPDATE: We have worked with the NYS Park and the stump issue has been resolved. We will be grooming this section tomorrow.
Please use extreme caution while riding the trail that passes through the
